Web Secure (SSL)
Web Development Package
Alan Kessler, CEO at Vormetric, once compared online security to the game of RISK. "Like data encryption," he stated, "your territory determines your risks. Some locations are easier to defend or attack, just like industries such as financial or healthcare" (Zensar). The risk of your website having its data compromised is affected by the nature of your business, especially if you handle sensitive information. We recommend that businesses at a lower level of risk still invest in an HTTPS connection for their site.
HTTPS - the lock icon in the address bar - securely shields your website from hackers and spammers. While it was once reserved primarily for entering passwords and credit card transactions, the entire web is quickly leaving HTTP behind and switching to HTTPS. Additionally, it has become a major Google ranking factor in 2018. It's time for your website to get secure with this web development package add-on!
Essentially, all websites today need an added layer of security to enable "HTTPS," otherwise your website may produce "Site not secure" messages in Chrome and Firefox. It's absolutely essential to have WebSecure with:

Let's start with the basics. The "s" at the end of the "http" part of a URL means the website is secure. HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), or secure sites, include the SSL 2048-bit key and can protect a site connection through authentication and encryption. When installed on your website, an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate activates the padlock and the HTTPS protocol, allowing secure connections from your website to a browser. Secure websites can protect a user's connection by securing information in three layers:
- Encryption ensures that a user's activity cannot be tracked or their information stolen
- Data integrity prevents files from being corrupted as they are transferred
- Authentication protects against attacks and builds user trust
Although only less than 1% of all websites are secure (talk about getting ahead of the competition!), 40% of Google's page one organic search results feature an HTTPS site. Google is encouraging us to make the migration to secure sites and is giving an increasing amount of weight in ranking boosts to websites that are HTTPS.
CREATE A CERTIFICATE SIGNING REQUEST (CSR)
Our first step is to generate a CSR on the Find8 server where your website is hosted. The CSR contains a public and private key that will be included in the SSL certificate. This is what a typical CSR looks like:
ORDER YOUR CERTIFICATE
Next, our technical consultant will order the SSL certificate through the Find8 Digital data center. The annual cost of this certificate is $50. You will also receive a dedicated IP address for your website.
Once we have the SSL certificate, we validate your website through the encrypted keys and install the certificate on your domain.
As a final step in the Web Secure SSL package, your Find8 technical consultant will ensure that current HTTP URLs, such as http://www.mysite.com redirects to https://www.mysite.com. Other steps may be needed if you have an SEO package with us. Please contact your marketing consultant for additional information.
